Cluster 9: Reasoning with Shapes

In this cluster, students focus on geometric concepts of shapes and their defining attributes. Students use their understanding of defining attributes to recognize and draw triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, and hexagons. Students recognize shares as they learn to partition circles and rectangles. The focus of this cluster is on equipartitioning (partitioning in equal parts), and developing language such as halves, thirds, and fourths.
